Six Flags theme park review
(mainly coasters)
-by Dennis B.
Six flags in NJ is a trip worth making because of the rides, the
sights, and the coasters, but not the prices. If you have never
been to six flags great adventure and wild safari here is a basic
break down, if you wanna call it that. The park is basically broken
down into eight sections. You're probably wondering where the
coasters are at, right? Well don't worry I'll get to that soon
enough. Now the eight sections are: Old Country which contains
four rides which are mainly bumper cars and a few circular, rotating
rides, nothing spectacular.
The next section is Movietown (now it gets interesting) :
Movietown has a total of five rides in there, there are a total
of four coasters know as Batman and Robin: The chiller. Unfortunately
I never got to ride this coaster. But from what I hear Robin is
usually broken down. (You have the option of riding Batman or
the Robin tracks). Next is the Stuntman's Freefall and that is
a 13 story free fall simulation you and a few others are put in
a elevator sized car that is pulled back into a (launching) pully
and what that does is it takes you up the 13 stories and you are
then pushed forward onto the tracks and you then fall (without
any brakes) the entire 13 stories straight down and back into
the loading station. (Once again I was unable to ride this).
Next
is Batman the ride, now I have ridden this several times but if
the line is more then an hour wait, don't go on it, it is not
worth it. Batman the ride was one of the first inverted coasters
so there is no monster hill but since it is one of the first inverted
coasters B&M made sure that you get thrown around enough.
The next ride is the best in the entire park, if you go to six
flags you need to ride this. I am talking about NITRO. This coaster
is over 230 feet TALL and you don't bank into a turn right after
the hill-- you speed through the course at over 80 mph. Don't
worry about not being able to put your hands in the air because
all you have is a lapbar holding you into your seat. You definitely
have to ride this!
We now move onto Looney Tunes Seaport which has a bunch of rides
for kids that are under the age of 10. The next section is named
Fantasy Forest which contains nine rides all together, sorry no
coasters here. This section has a 150 foot Big Wheel and it also
has a sky way cable car for a high view of the entire park. The
next section is the Lakefront which has seven rides and the only
ones worth mentioning are Skull Mountain which is more or less
a coaster that is in a warehouse. If you are looking to cool off
from the heat and you don't want to get wet, go there.
The next area is called Frontier Adventures, there are nine rides
there and three coasters there. The first one is MEDUSA this is
most likely the second best coaster in the park, it is known as
a floorless. The best seat, of course, is the front-- especially
for Medusa because all you lose the "floorless" effect
in any other seat. As soon as your train detaches off of the lift
at the top of the hill, you are suddenly thrown forward and race
down the hill at about 61 mph.
Now, the Viper is an "ok" coaster, but the only time
you can get to ride it is at night. Rolling thunder is a wooden
coaster that has duel tracks (not a dueling coaster though). There
there is Bugs Bunny land which has more rides for kids under 10.
And then there is Boardwalk. The only coaster in that section
is the Great American Scream Machine. Don't worry it lives up
to its name. Waiting for this ride could be worth if for some
people but to me waiting for the GASM is not worth waiting an
hour four but I did ride it. And to give you a quick overview
about the safari trip the only thing you can do constructive while
going through that is to eat your lunch. Now, go to Six Flags
Great Adventure!
