Games and Coasters

May 20th, 2001 (10-3pm)

I was right on time today and clocked in at just ahead of 9:30am. I went over to my green tag and signed in, while asking what my ride would be. After working hard on the Fun Slides the day before, I was sort of expecting to get to work the Wildcat or Tidal Force, but that was not to be. I was assigned to Wildmouse, which, in all fairness, is a pretty good ride to operate, but I've ended up getting it every Sunday since I've worked there!

Two maintenance guys were fiddling with the final brake run before the station. The brake was too tight and was making the cars come to an almost immediate stop. Not a good thing when human riders and on. After about 15 minutes of tweaking it, they said we could open up, but warned us that they would probably have to come back and fine-tune the brake once people rode through it.

[Perfect oppurtunity] -- Myself and another ride-op quickly responded with, "We could test it out if you'd like". They replied with, "ok, sure". Exclusive ride time, baby!

Up the lift hill I went, for my first ride on the 'Mouse for the 2001 season. The good ol'Wildmouse seems slightly faster than I remember it. The ride was enjoyable and the brake worked ;).

After the exclusive ride time, the day went pretty much as I had expected it to. We rotated through positions every 45 minutes and had a fun time. My end-of-day relief didn't show up until 3:15 -- grr.... Other than that, definitely my best day of working at Hersheypark yet!
