Games and Coasters

June 2nd, 2001 (4:15-8:45pm)

After a fun day of work at Tidal Force, I headed over to the carousel to meet a group of friends. We headed down to the Comet Hollow bathrooms where I made a quick change of clothes. The sooperdooperlooper had a 10 minute wait, so we decided to skip that for now.

We headed up to the Great Bear to find that the queue WAS COMPLETELY FILLED and even extended near the entrance to the antique cars! None of the others in my group had ridden it [it was my first ride of the season on it] so, we decided to suck it up and wait out the line. I predicted about a 2 hour wait for the front seat. Somehow, we missed that 2 hour mark and got the front seat in just 1 hour and 20 minutes. The front of the Bear is just soo awesome. Easily worth the wait!

After the Bear, we headed over to the Flying Falcons and waited 2 cycles for a pretty fun ride on it. I like the FF because there's usually no wait and has a good variety of elements for a flatride.

We decided to check out the Lightning Racer on our way to Chaos. The LR has a 5 minute wait so we took a spin on it. The 'Racer, while not my favorite wooden coaster, always gives a solid, fun, and exciting ride. We headed up to Chaos, but the queue was completely full, so we decided to bypass it for now.

One of my friends was getting hungry, so we grabbed some pizza and drinks over at Mama Ilardo's [not me -- I refused to pay that much money for food]. After their appetites had been satisfied for the moment, we decided to hit the Comet. We waited about 45 minutes for a front seat ride. The Comet is a pretty good wooden coaster, but I usually don't like to wait more than 20 minutes for it.

We decided to ride the sooperdooperlooper, since it was ride there and had no line what so ever. We waited 5 minutes for the front seat. I love this ride. The drop is just right for the style of coaster, the loop pulls great Gs, and the turn-around through the loop is very well done. This is a solid coaster -- I'm always surprised that there's hardly ever a wait, even on the busiest days.

We headed back out to the Lightning Racer, but there was a 15 minute wait!! That's simply unheard of! We opted to end the day on the Whip. The Whip is a fun attraction -- for maximum enjoyment, throw yourself to the right when the car enters the turn.

We headed back to the entrance where I met up with the rest of the larger group that was there, talked to them for a bit, and then left the park through the employee gate.

All in all, a very crowded, but enjoyable day at Hersheypark.
