Games and Coasters

May 27th, 2001 (4-10pm)

I was, again, working the night shift. I haven't made up my mind which shift I like better, but both have their advantages.

After swiping/signing in, I was told that my ride for the night would be... FUNSLIDE! Aaaaah! So... I make my way slowly up to the Fun Slide and relieve one of my fellow co-workers, who, by the way, is overjoyed to be finished ;).

Only one slide was in operation, so myself and one other co-worker were working the slide. We were closed for the first 15 minutes or so due to light rain. When the rain finally let up, we had to dry the slides and then spray them with "Pledge" to make sure no one would get stuck.

We opened up and a line quickly formed. The rest of the day went very smoothly. We rotated top-bottom of the slide every hour and for the final rotation, I was at the top.

The sun was down when I got up there and the Midway looked beautiful with all of its lights on. I WILL get a picture from up there sometime during the summer. Anyway... I was up at the top of the FunSlides and the music from the laser show starts to come on. The pre-music is sort of a "techno-spyish mix" -- it reminds me of Mission: Impossible II background music. Well, I figured, "what the heck" and started moving to the beat and having some fun. Kids were coming up the slide and wanting to "race" down, so I'd start them off with an "On your mark, get set... GO!" I had a great time in that last 45 minutes or so -- even though the guests probably thought I was nuts. =)

All in all, a good day. It was more crowded than Saturday, but still a pretty good day to go to Hersheypark.
